Anastasia Troshkova
Through photography, moving image, and speculative archiving, I seek to encounter and share the raw experience of an individual within larger social and political structures. Often beginning with personal responses to urgent issues that affect my life, I am interested in the invisible narratives and unconscious patterns through which power, propaganda, and othering become embedded in the mundane.
I work with open-source and research-developed material, often combining it with text and constructing narratives through re-enactment and re-interpretation. Moving between documentation and construction, I use metaphor and fragmentation to explore what lies beyond articulation and the perceptions of Self and Other that emerge from it.
The aim of my practice is to create space for critical reflection and empathy, raising questions about individual choices without demanding answers, and allowing for uncertainty and the possibility of simply living with what remains unresolved.
